This guide answers how to remove a Gemini watermark from your own images, step by step, on a computer and on a phone. It covers the original download, screenshots, Nano Banana files and the fixes for when a faint mark is left behind. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Quick answer
| Method | Quality | Time | Cost | Privacy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Imaginoa (reverse blending) | Original pixels restored | About 1 second per image | Free | Image stays on your device |
| Cropping the corner | Loses part of the picture | Seconds | Free | Local |
| Clone or healing brush | Depends on skill; can look patchy | A few minutes | Often paid software | Local |
| AI inpainting apps | Invents new pixels; can blur | Seconds | Often credits | Usually uploaded |
The visible Gemini mark is a semi-transparent white sparkle blended into the image. Because the blend follows a known formula, it can be mathematically reversed. That brings back the real pixels underneath instead of painting over them.
Free, no sign-up, works on phone and computer.
Where the Gemini watermark appears
In our testing, and in published open-source research on the mark, Gemini uses two versions:
| Version | Look | Position | Imaginoa support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Older mark | Brighter sparkle | Close to the bottom-right corner | Yes |
| Newer mark | Fainter sparkle | Further in from the bottom-right corner | Yes |
The size and distance from the corner scale with the image size, so a large image has a larger mark placed further in.
On a computer
- Save the original image from Gemini (not a screenshot).
- Open imaginoa.com and drop the image onto the page. You can add many at once.
- Drag the before/after slider and use "Zoom to corner" to check the result.
- Click "Download image", or "Download all as ZIP" for a batch.
On a phone
- In the Gemini app, open the image and save it to your phone.
- Open imaginoa.com in Chrome or Safari and tap "Choose images".
- Wait about a second for "Watermark removed".
- Tap "Save image". Your share menu opens, so choose "Save Image" or your gallery.

Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "No mark found" | The image is a screenshot, cropped or resized | Tap "Select the mark", then tap the sparkle |
| A faint light star remains | The mark was saved with heavy compression | Raise "Removal strength" slightly |
| A faint dark star appears | Removal is a little too strong for this image | Lower "Removal strength" slightly |
| A thin outline is visible | Edge pixels were compressed | Raise "Edge cleanup" or use "Brush fix" |
How to remove Gemini watermark from image files
The phrase people search most often is how to remove Gemini watermark from image files, and the answer depends on where the image came from:
| Where the image came from | What to do |
|---|---|
| Downloaded from the Gemini app or website | Drop it straight into the remover; detection is instant |
| A screenshot of the Gemini screen | Tap "Select the mark" and tap the sparkle, since the mark has moved from its usual spot |
| Already resized or cropped | The tool searches the whole picture; use tap-to-select if it is missed |
| Saved from a chat or messaging app | Heavier compression, so adjust "Removal strength" slightly if a trace remains |
| Made with the Gemini API | Depending on your plan there may be no visible mark at all |
Is the Google Gemini watermark different?
Searches for how to remove Google Gemini watermark marks and plain "Gemini watermark" mean the same thing: Gemini is Google's AI assistant, so the sparkle on its images is the Google Gemini watermark. There is only one visible mark to deal with, in two versions.
| Version | Look | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Older mark | Brighter sparkle | Close to the bottom-right corner |
| Newer mark | Fainter sparkle | Further in from the corner |
Both are supported. You can read more about the assistant itself on Wikipedia's Gemini page.
What about Gemini videos?
Videos generated through Gemini use Google's Veo model and carry a "Veo" text mark instead of a sparkle. That needs a different tool, because a video mark has to be learned across many frames. See the Gemini video watermark guide or go straight to the free video watermark remover.
What is not removed
Google also adds SynthID, an invisible watermark hidden in the pixels. Imaginoa does not remove it, and removing the visible sparkle does not hide that an image was made with AI. Read Gemini watermark vs SynthID to learn the difference.
Only edit images you created or have permission to change, and be open about AI-generated content where that is expected.
FAQ
Is it free to remove the Gemini watermark with Imaginoa?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit.
Does removing the watermark reduce quality?
No. Only the small mark area changes, and the real pixels are restored rather than repainted.
Can I remove the watermark on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in Chrome and Safari on Android and iPhone.
Why does my screenshot not work?
Screenshots are resized and the mark moves away from the corner. Use the original download, or tap "Select the mark" and tap the sparkle.
